The Denver Department of Public Health & Environment (DDPHE) has released the 2025 Community Health Assessment (CHA), providing a comprehensive overview of the city’s health landscape. This assessment, based on over 18 months of community engagement, identifies three primary health priorities: access to health care, safe and affordable housing, and systemic racism.
Access to Health Care
Many Denver residents face challenges in obtaining necessary health services. Barriers such as cost, lack of insurance, and limited availability of providers contribute to disparities in health outcomes across different communities.
Safe and Affordable Housing
The assessment highlights housing affordability as a significant concern. Rising costs and limited availability of affordable housing options have led to increased housing instability, affecting residents’ overall well-being.
Systemic Racism
Systemic racism is identified as a critical factor influencing health disparities. The CHA emphasizes the need to address structural inequalities that disproportionately impact communities of color, affecting access to resources and opportunities.
The DDPHE encourages community members, organizations, and policymakers to utilize the CHA to inform programs, policies, and initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes and promoting equity throughout Denver.
